Heavyweights Arsenal and Manchester City renew their rivalry in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley, with more than just silverware at stake.
The Gunners sit nine points clear of City at the top of the Premier League, but it’s far from done and dusted, with Pep Guardiola’s side holding a game in hand and a crucial Etihad clash to come in April.
So not only could Arsenal lift their first League Cup since 1993 – they could also land a huge psychological blow ahead of the title run-in.
And they look well placed to do it.

Mikel Arteta’s men have won 11 of their last 14 matches and haven’t tasted defeat since January – one of just three all season.
They may not be at their free-flowing best, but they keep getting the job done, with three clean sheets in their last five – including one against Bayer Leverkusen in midweek to book a Champions League quarter-final spot.
Victory at Wembley would be the first step towards a potential quadruple, with Arsenal favourites for the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League – priced at 9/1 with the bookmakers.
But there’s a warning sign – they’ve lost more League Cup finals than any other side (six), most recently to Manchester City in 2018.
As for City, lifting this trophy is nothing new – they’ve won it six times since 2013-14.
However, it’s been five years since their last triumph and they arrive at Wembley in patchy form, with just one win in their last five in all competitions.
Guardiola’s side crashed out of the Champions League to Real Madrid, losing 5-1 on aggregate, and were also held by West Ham and Nottingham Forest during that run.
They must also beat Liverpool to reach the FA Cup semi-finals – meaning this could be their best shot at silverware this season.
