ARSENAL fans were left stunned by Gary Neville’s harsh reaction to Ben White’s injury.

The full-back went down after a clash of legs with West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville.

And despite the England international having to go off the pitch injured, to be replaced by Martin Zubimendi, the former Manchester United defender was far from sympathetic.

Instead he accused White of not committing to the challenge enough, and said he had to be stronger against the much smaller Summerville.

“Ben White just hangs his leg there.

“It’s poor from the right-back. He’s up against Summerville, he’s got to be stronger than that.

“He’s hurt himself there. That’s easily prevented if you go in strong and with a real sturdy block.

“He’s hung his leg out in pretty weak fashion, you’re asking for trouble.”

Gunners fans were not pleased with the assessment, with one saying: “What is Gary Neville on about? Ben white will be disappointed in himself for going into a 50/50 with Summerville.

“He’s just talking for the sake of it! What’s he supposed to do?”

Another fan joked: “Can Arsenal fans start a petition to remove Gary Neville from all our games.”

A third fan added: “Lovely of Gary Neville to say Ben White could be more brave as he’s going off injured.”

White ended up trudging off the pitch with his arm around a physio, apparently with an injury to his right knee.

The location of the injury will cause concern about a possible ligament issue, especially as White attempts to contest for a spot in England’s World Cup squad for next month.
