However, Slot made headlines by leaving Salah out of the starting lineup for the match.
The Egyptian did not even come off the bench as Liverpool broke a dismal streak of nine defeats in 12 games.
Slot has revealed that he was not in Salah’s good books when he informed him he would not be starting against West Ham.
The Premier League title-winning manager, 47, stated: “It was a normal reaction for a player who is capable enough to play for us.
“I say this gently, as he has been exceptional for this club and will continue to be in the future. He wasn’t happy about not starting, but he wasn’t the only one.
“His behavior was exactly what you would expect from such a professional; he supported his teammates and conducted himself very well.
“You can’t expect a player to perform at a high level every three days, but he is so disciplined and understands how to stay fit.
“Regardless of whether he plays well, doesn’t play well, plays or doesn’t play, he will always be that top professional.”
Salah, 33, had started every Premier League match this season prior to the trip to West Ham.
Despite scoring five goals and providing three assists in 18 appearances, the former Chelsea player was benched.
He was left out after Liverpool suffered a humiliating defeat against PSV Eindhoven last week.
However, the forward is expected to reclaim his starting position when the Reds face Sunderland on Wednesday.
Salah will depart from Merseyside to join Egypt’s squad on December 15, as they aim for glory in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Before his departure, Liverpool is scheduled to play against Sunderland, Leeds, Inter Milan, and Brighton.
