Army, Air Force must work together to defeat terrorism – Governor Buni

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration between the Nigerian Army and Air Force to combat terrorism and other crimes.

He made the call Thursday when he received the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede at the Government House, Damaturu.

Buni said the government and people of Yobe would continue to support the army and all other security agencies in the state to succeed in the war against terrorism.

“The issue of security is a collective responsibility, we will do everything possible to ensure the success of the fight against insecurity”;, he assured.

The Governor commended the military’s resilience and commitment to securing the country.

Lt. Gen. Oluyede assured the governor that the Army would deploy additional troops Army equipment to improve security in Yobe State.

“We cannot afford to allow the Sahel experience into this country, we must collectively rise to the occasion to fight the ugly scourge.

“Having worked very hard and achieved peace in Yobe as a Commander, I cannot sit and watch that peace eroded as a Chief of Army Staff now,”; the COAS said.

He urged Nigerians to provide credible information to aid in combating security threats.
