Armed herdsmen kill two in Delta community

Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have killed two persons in Ubulu-Okiti Community, Aniocha South Local Government Area in Delta State.

The incident occurred Thursday, DAILY POST can report.

A human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, on his Facebook page said the two men were killed Thursday evening by armed men carrying AK-47 rifles.

According to Gwamnishu,”;Our communities have been besieged by these individuals and despite the efforts of the Delta State Police Command, they continue to regroup and carry out these heinous crimes.

While commending the Delta State Government led by Sheriff Oborevwori for their efforts in safeguarding lives and properties, Gwamnishu said,”;it is essential for me to utilize my platform to inform His Excellency that these incidents will persist unless our strategy is revised.

“To my brothers in Ubulu-Okiti, please take heart and remain law-abiding”;

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, is yet to reply to a text message sent to him by our reporter to confirm the incident.

Meanwhile, a Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Human Rights, Kelvin Ejumudo, has condoled the families of the deceased over their unfortunate loss.

He said,”;There’s need for a combined security effort to curb future occurrences.”;
