Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said the entire squad would be rooting for William Saliba to win the 2022 World Cup on Sunday.
Saliba has hardly featured for Les Bleus in Qatar, coming on for 27 minutes in their 1-0 loss against Tunisia in the group stages.
Head coach Didier Deschamps has preferred Raphael Varane, Ibrahima Konate or Dayot Upamecano.
It was thought Saliba might have a chance of starting the final against Argentina after Konate, Upamecano, and Varane were struck down by a virus. But Varane and Konate trained on Saturday and are expected to start against Lionel Messi and co.
However, it won’t stop Arteta and the rest of the Gunners squad from cheering on the young defender.
“We’ll all be watching William Saliba tomorrow to see if he can win the World Cup,” Arteta said.
