Former Nigerian International, John Obi Mikel, has raised a question about Lionel Messi ahead of Argentina’s World Cup semi-final fixture with England.

The former Chelsea midfielder raised the question while warning England that they will have to do more to try and stop Messi when they face Argentina on Tuesday night.

According to Obi Mikel, everyone, including current Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, has tried to stop Messi, but the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner manages to find a solution on the pitch.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Obi Mikel also insisted that it’s impossible to stop Messi.

“Gary. How do you do that? We have all tried, and we have all failed,” Obi Mikel said.

“I mean, fantastic player. When we used to play Chelsea against Barcelona, it was just incredible. Obviously, a week before the game, we always talk about Lionel Messi, how do we stop him?

“Mourinho always has a tactic: How do we stop this little magician? You can’t defend one-on-one because it’s impossible.”
