House of Representatives candidate for the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, Barr. Joy Ameh-Okpaimno, has reiterated her dedication to a peaceful and issue-focused political campaign in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.
In a conversation with reporters on Monday in Abuja, Okpaimno warned political figures and their supporters against the growing trend of hate speech, intimidation, and violence, emphasizing that no human life should be sacrificed for an election.
“My ambition is not worth the blood of any citizen of Apa and Agatu. Leadership is about serving others, not waging war. We must reject the notion that elections are battles where individuals must be harmed to succeed,” she stated.
The legal expert, who is among the leading female candidates seeking to replace the current officeholder, Hon. Ojotu Ojema, expressed her determination to present progressive ideas, particularly regarding peace, youth empowerment, agriculture, education, and access to quality healthcare.
She remarked that the residents of Apa/Agatu deserve representatives who unify communities and promote development rather than exacerbate divisions.
“We have endured enough from herdsmen attacks and economic struggles. What our people need now is hope, development, and a representative who will advocate for them boldly in the National Assembly, and I am that voice they have been seeking,” she added.
Emphasizing her vision for inclusive governance, Okpaimno highlighted the significance of engaging youth and empowering women.
“A nation without its youth has no future. I will listen to our young people because I am one of them, and I will ensure women understand there are no limits to what they can achieve,” she affirmed.
Regarding education and social support, she shared: “I have been assisting children and widows through scholarships and community programs long before this campaign began. Making a positive impact on lives is my passion, and that will continue regardless of my candidacy.”
Okpaimno called on security agencies, INEC, and stakeholders to guarantee a fair and transparent electoral process, noting that credible elections are essential for strengthening democracy.
“I am committed to a clean campaign. Let ideas compete, not violence,” she concluded.
