TOURIST-HATING Spaniards have flooded the streets of Alicante comparing holidaymakers to terrorists.
Hundreds of demonstrators marched through the streets of the capital to protest at the effects of mass tourism.
Anti-tourist zealots chanted: “This tourism is .”
Many carried a huge banner emblazoned with the words: “Alicante is at the limit, less business, more life.”
The huge march kicked off at 7pm yesterday in ‘s Carolinas Bajas neighbourhood.
Protesters walked through the town to La Rambla.
It was a planned by a housing union and a called Alicante Donde Vas (Alicante, where are you going?).
They claimed: “Housing costs us our lives. Neither for tourism nor for rent-seekers.”
The group released a dramatic video to the The Clash’s London Calling featuring images of key boxes outside .
In Majorca and yobs have in the past to target tourists.
The video lamented the effects of mass tourism, saying: “Local businesses converted into tourist homes, buildings for sale, tourist flats at every step, key boxes on facades and windows, posters asking tourists to be quiet.
The litany went on: “Blocks that only house tourist apartments, illegal works, real estate agents offering to sell your flat, tourists invading the neighbourhoods, franchises everywhere, cruise ships, planes, cars, dirt, noise and so on and so on.”
It asked: “How long do we have to put up with this?”
One local replied: “Every day this city is closer to becoming an amusement park only for tourists.”
Another added: “We have been selling tourism for years and nothing more than that, and now we are reaping what has been sown.”
At the end of the demo protesters put out tables and chairs and sat down to eat together in an attempt to recover “lost” public space in the city.
Majorca and Barcelona are also set to see huge anti-tourist protests this weekend.

Cops said 20,000 people took part in the huge march but organisers claimed the figure was almost three times that, at 70,000.

During the march, activists mocked English holidaymakers for the ’ World Cup semi-final defeat against Argentina.
Demonstrators held a banner reading: “The Only Thing Coming Home Is You.”
