The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has initiated an inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of over N4 billion in state funds linked to the Dala Inland Dry Port project during the tenure of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Reports indicate that these funds were allocated for a contract aimed at developing infrastructure for the port shortly after the state's 20% stake in the company was reportedly transferred to Ganduje's family in 2020.
This action is said to have effectively removed Kano State as a co-owner of the project, positioning Ganduje's children as directors and shareholders in the company.
Sources reveal that the contract was granted even though the state no longer had ownership of the project at that time.
During a recent press conference, PCACC Chairman Saidu Yahya stated that the investigation is at an advanced stage and nearing completion.
“To date, several persons of interest have been summoned. One individual was apprehended but was later released on bail after providing valuable information,” Yahya noted.
“Our findings also indicate that one of the individuals involved is currently located in Yola, Adamawa State.”
He further stated that the commission has established a prima facie case and that the matter will be brought to court once the investigation concludes.
