The BBC’s synopsis for the latest instalment of reads: “Series 2 finds Amanda still living in SoHa, and juggling teenagers, her online Senuous brand and her “co-lab” working at Kitchen’s Bathrooms and Kitchens.

“Resigned to staying in the area, she is however thrilled by the opening of a hipster coffee shop which to her mind represents a step towards gentrification.

“By mid-series, Amanda’s head has been turned by discovering a big house in the area is up for sale. Desperate to own it, she turns to her mother – only to discover that getting Felicity on board financially comes at a price.

“Her mum may seem evergreen, but is definitely starting to show signs of ageing so maybe living alone is no longer an option.”

The London-born actress is best known for her roles in Hot Fuzz, Bad Teacher, Doc Martin and the original Motherland.

She has been nominated for a Bafta this year for Best Female Comedy Performance for the part.

Joanna Lumley as Felicity Sanderson

Absolutely Fabulous legend , 80, returns as Amanda’s sharp-tongued mother Felicity Sanderson.

The Dame has been a national treasure since the 1970s, with credits ranging from The New Avengers and Ab Fab to ITV hit Finding Alice.

Expect plenty more cutting one-liners between mother and daughter this series.

Philippa Dunne as Anne Flynn

Irish actress reprises her role as Amanda’s long-suffering pal Anne Flynn.

She first played the character in Motherland and is also up for a Bafta this year for the role.

Her other credits include C4 smash-hit , This Is Going to Hurt and BBC thriller The Woman in the Wall.

Samuel Anderson as Mal

Samuel Anderson is back as Mal, Amanda’s downstairs neighbour and unspoken love interest.

The Birmingham-born actor previously played teacher Danny Pink in opposite Peter Capaldi.

He has also appeared in The History Boys, Emmerdale and Sky drama Landscapers.

Ekow Quartey as JJ
