Alonso wants to bring Bayer Leverkusen defender to Real Madrid

Published on May 03, 2025 at 11:07 AM

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is keen on taking his current defender Jonathan Tah with him to Real Madrid when he moves to the Los Blancos this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spaniard is currently managing Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

But recent reports have claimed that the Alonso will take the managerial mantle at his former club Real Madrid at the end of the season once Carlo Ancelotti exit Santiago Bernabeu.

Tah has been impressive since he joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.

The defender has featured in every game for Alonso’s side in the current campaign, barring one.

His consistent and impressive performances have drawn interest from different top European clubs, including Barcelona.

His contract with Leverkusen will run out at the end of this season and this means he could join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, Ancelotti is expected to take the head coach job of the Brazil national team this summer.
