The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has refuted allegations of his arrest related to an alleged coup plot.

In a statement released on Thursday, Ogbuku clarified that he is currently participating in a Commission meeting with Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, and Directors in Port Harcourt, which is being broadcast live on Arise TV. During the meeting, he encouraged attendees to develop and implement frameworks that would positively influence the future of the Niger Delta.

This statement follows reports in various media outlets suggesting that the NDDC Managing Director had been arrested in connection with an alleged coup plot.

Previously, DAILY POST reported that an All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Yekini Nabena, had dismissed the rumors of the alleged arrest.

The APC leader urged the public to disregard the reports of the NDDC boss's arrest.

“We woke up yesterday to see some fabricated social media reports claiming that Dr. Sam Ogbuku was arrested. We questioned, for what reason? The ongoing agricultural summit in Port Harcourt featured the managing director speaking live this morning, which was broadcasted on two national television channels. We hope this will discredit the spreaders of false information,” Nabena stated.

“We urge the public to ignore the fake news and recognize it for what it is: false,” he added.

On Wednesday, former Bayelsa State governor and former Nigerian minister Timipre Sylva confirmed that his residence in Abuja had been raided.

However, he denied any involvement in the alleged coup plot.

In the past week, there have been rumors circulating about a coup plot in Nigeria.

Subsequently, last Friday, President Tinubu addressed these concerns.

Nevertheless, both the military and the Nigerian government have consistently dismissed the rumors regarding a coup plot.
