BELOVED presenter Alison Hammond has revealed her dad was Muhammed Ali’s bodyguard – and she’s named after the boxing legend.

Making her first appearance on The show, Alison, 51, opened up on the surprising origination of her name.

presenter told how her dad was Muhammed Ali’s bodyguard and a huge fan.

So much so that and two others in her family are also named after the legend.

She said: “Friends and family will call me Ali – . My dad named me and I’ve got a sister in Jamaica called Alicia and then I’ve got a brother called Ali.

“The three of us are named after Muhammad Ali, because my dad was his bodyguard – he absolutely loved him.”

Alison said her dad wasn’t his full time body guard, just when he was in Birmingham, where her and her family are from.

She added: “Whenever Muhammad Ali would come to Birmingham, my dad would be called out to go and look after Muhammad Ali.”

Elsewhere, Alison also cleared up the rumour that she’s on the hit show .

Unfortunately for fans it’s bad news – the TV star already has prior commitments to Bake Off, which is set to around the same time.

Alison said: “I can’t do it, because I’m doing Bake Off. I think it’s the same time when I’m doing Bake Off, so that’s a definite no. I’m so sorry, I would love to do that.

“I wouldn’t want to be a traitor though, I’d want to be a faithful. I don’t want no stress.”

She also spoke out on Great British Bake Off judge ‘s shock exit.

Alison said: “It’s kind of bittersweet. We love Prue. She’s incredible – she’s given nine years of her time, but we also want her to go and enjoy life as well. I think she’s 86 now. She’s got a wonderful husband and they want to do more things.”

She continued: “When you’re doing Bake Off, your summer’s gone, literally. It’s very bitter that she’s going, but we’re very excited that we’ve got .

“I can’t wait – I’m actually meeting her next week. We’re going to have a coffee and a little chat. She’s really excited.”

Amid ‘s cull of pro dancers Alison reminisced about her time on the show with her partner Aljaž Škorjanec.

Alison recalled one of her “awful” performances remembering how Aljaž couldn’t pick her up so .

She said: “There is a moment… he goes into this cartwheel and I pick him up and I break wind.

“I look at him and I go, ‘Let’s never talk about this again.’ I didn’t realise that he’s quite a heavy guy – it literally took the wind out of me.”

Alison said of her new , Your Song: “People go on stage who have never sung before and they sing a song to a random audience. It’s just one of the most beautiful shows ever.”
