If you want your washing to dry faster, timing is key.

Hanging clothes out between 10am and 2pm is usually best, as that’s when the day is warmest.

Another trick is to add an extra spin cycle at the end of your wash to squeeze out more water before hanging clothes up.

When pegging out your washing, put slower-drying items in the sunniest spots and keep synthetic fabrics like polyester or nylon in shadier areas.

It also helps to shake clothes before hanging them, which smooths creases and can cut down on ironing time.

For trousers, hang them from the waistband so water drips away, while tops are best pegged from the bottom seam to avoid marks on the shoulders.

And don’t forget to pull out pockets and space items out to help air circulate and speed up drying.
