And he played a pivotal role in Liverpool booking their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals – .

But Robertson has been restricted to just 14 starts in all competitions this season.

The former Hull man fell down the pecking order after Liverpool chief last summer.

And Robertson refused to be drawn on whether he was frustrated with his lack of game time after the victory at Molineux.

He told BBC Sport: “It is what it is. Milos is a fantastic left-back. Unbelievable season last season at Bournemouth.

“[He] took a little bit of time to settle in to a big club, which everyone does.

“But the club have to move forward. The lads have been here for so long, we’re not getting any younger, we’re all in our thirties now and you know the replacements have to come in.

“We know that. That’s what we want from the club. We want them to be ambitious and we want them to go and compete on all fronts.

“So you have to accept it. I’ve had competition my whole career and it’s no different this season.

“Obviously, I’ve not played as many games as maybe I would’ve liked, but that’s part of football.

“When you do play, you’ve just got to go and enjoy it. I think I’ve done that [against Wolves].”

, who was on punditry duties for BBC Sport, is adamant that Robertson is frustrated by his lack of action.

The Premier League’s all-time top scorer, 55, said: “I’m not sure Kerkez has pushed him enough to be playing as much as he has done.

“Certainly not with the fee that they paid for him, I thought he would have been better.

“[] is a great professional and he probably can’t say what he wants to say.”

BBC Sport presenter Kelly Cates then interjected, adding: “The most critical that he was, was to say, ‘Milos Kerkez didn’t quite settle in as quickly as he could have done’. But that was completely understandable.”

Shearer responded: “Which means, ‘I should be in the team’. That’s what that stands for.”

Former Liverpool midfielder also questioned Slot’s decision to make Kerkez his first-choice left-back.

He reckons Robertson deserves to keep his spot in the starting line-up when the Reds head to Galatasaray for the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on Tuesday.

Murphy, 48, said: “Deep down he’ll be absolutely fuming because he’s deserved to play more.

“Now, I’m sure he understands competition was inevitable, but to be discarded more or less.

“He’s only played a handful of games. That performance should keep his place.”
