ALAN SHEARER has launched an astonishing rant at VAR following another “bewildering” decision this weekend.

On Saturday’s early kick-off between Chelsea and Fulham , the visitors looked to have taken the lead in the 22nd minute through Josh King.

However, after review the 18-year-old’s goal was ruled out by VAR .

On-field referee Robert Jones announced Rodrigo Muniz had committed a “careless challenge” and stood on the foot of Trevoh Chalobah in the build-up.

Chelsea then went on to win the game 2-0 courtesy of goals by Joao Pedro and a penalty by Enzo Fernandez either side of the break.

The decision was met with outrage from Fulham, before PGMOL acknowledged on Sunday that VAR official Michael Salisbury had made a mistake by chalking off the goal.

And Newcastle icon Shearer has now ripped into Premier League officials following the incident.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast alongside Gary Lineker , Shearer launched into a FOUR-MIINUTE rant about the state of officiating and the incident.

He said: “Tell me right, you have two professionals – allegedly – referees who are sat in the VAR room watching screens, two of them, who are meant to know the game and who are meant to be very very good at their job.

“And you’ve got a referee on the pitch who saw the incident clearly and didn’t give it but then thinks, ‘actually I’ve made a huge error here, the guys have sent me to the screen and I’m gonna overturn my decision’.

“I mean, we can swear on here but not on Match of the Day , what the f*** are they thinking?”

Shearer continued: “You’re not going to re-referee, you’re not going to interfere and it’s only for the clear and obvious. Three things.

“Where have those three things gone, it’s bulls***. What has happened to the game? Tell me what’s happened to those three things.

“Howard Webb you’re in charge, tell us what has happened to those three things because every single game you’re re-referring and you;’re interfering in decisions which are not clear and obvious.

“Now please explain to us what has gone wrong from when you announced it to now.”

Fulham boss Marco Silva called the decision “unbelievable” when speaking to TNT Sports after the game.

He said: “How you disallow a goal like that is unbelievable. We have meetings with referee and people in charge, we all want to win.

“VAR is not here to re-referee the game. I would prefer not to say something more because I would be punished.

“I want to be on the touchline next week to help my team, I don’t want to be fined. But it has been a difficult start to the season with some decisions.”

Lineker also agreed that VAR had made a colossal error, labelling it “bewildering” to anybody who had played or watched football with a brilliant bit of skill by Muniz’s turn to get away from Chalobah.

This saw Shearer’s anger rise again, as he fumed: “That’s what I’m saying, you’ve got three professionals. Two on the screens and one on the pitch.

“THREE of them who were looking at it and all of them came to the same conclusion that they think the ref has made a howler. Seriously, three professionals. Goodness me.

“And then to rub salt in the wounds because of that extra time they’re looking at the screens Chelsea then go and score in the time added because of the s*** decisions.”

Shearer concluded: “I was still angry, like every Fulham player and fan and Marco Silva. You could tell he was just thinking what on earth has the game come to when those goals are being disallowed.

“It’s a terrible look for our game it really is.”

Chelsea are currently second in the table following the weekend’s results, two points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool who have a perfect record after beating Arsenal 1-0 on Sunday.

Enzo Maresca ‘s Club World Cup champions will visit Brentford after the international break, before hosting Manchester United the following weekend.

They are also kicking off their Champions League campaign with a visit to Bayern Munich in the middle.
