Akwa Ibom Police deny arrest of social media influencer, Blossom Williams

Published on May 23, 2025 at 02:24 PM

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has denied that it arrested and detained a social media influencer, and mother of three, Blossom Williams.

The Police made this denial following reports that Mrs William was arrested and detained at the instance of Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor’s son, Daniel Eyakenyi.

Reports said, Mrs William who is pregnant was trailed and arrested by operatives on her way to a medical appointment in Uyo.

Her family members insisted that her arrest was politically driven, pointing to William’s vocal advocacy for good governance and the rights of marginalised communities in Oro Nation as the likely motive.

The purported arrest further triggered a wave of public outcry in and outside Akwa Ibom State while critics and public commentators are demanding her immediate release and investigation of those behind her ordeal.

Reacting in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, disclosed on Friday that the command was not aware of such detention, saying: ”;;We are not aware of such detention for now”;;

A source close to William’s family told newsmen in Uyo on Friday that the social media influencer, who was currently pregnant, was forcefully taken into custody on her way to the hospital.
