The 11-year-old, known only by the pseudonym “Samira”, briefly left her classroom to go to the toilet on April 28.

A classmate said she was gone for around 20 minutes, while another said they had noticed two older men in the playground that day.

It was there that she was allegedly attacked by Nassar and an accomplice.

Concerned local parents claimed both men are known “troublemakers” in the area, accused of “specifically targeting young girls”.

A second girl has also accused the suspect of a sexual offence, prosecutors confirmed to Bild .

Terrified, Samira confided in her sister a few days after the incident.

A report was filed, and the suspect has been in police custody since May 5, awaiting trial.

Her family’s lawyer, Bilal Colak, said a knife was involved in the assault.

The is ongoing.

One concerned mum said: “If our children aren’t even safe at school anymore – where are they?”

Trier education official Eveline Dziendzio said: “The school has established a crisis team.

“In addition to the school principal, this team includes school social workers, counsellors, school inspectors, the school authority, the school psychological service, and police representatives.”

Since the incident, new security measures have been put in place at the school.

A new video intercom system has been installed.

Counselling has also been made available to students.
