Uganda's head coach, Paul Put, has urged his players to remain prepared and focused for their upcoming match against Nigeria.
He emphasized that Nigeria's team is exceptionally strong and poses a significant challenge.
Nigeria has already secured a spot in the knockout stage after defeating Tunisia, and many believe that the Super Eagles may rotate some players for their next game against the Cranes.
In remarks before the match, Put stated that the final decisions regarding player selections will be made by the Super Eagles' head coach, Eric Chelle.
“It is possible that changes will be made. Some players have received yellow cards, and the coach will make the final decision,” he added, “I cannot predict the coach’s thoughts. Even if there are some adjustments.”
The Belgian coach is confident that Nigeria will still field a strong team and highlighted the abundance of talented players in the West African squad.
“We are anticipating a competitive match, and we recognize that the skill level of Nigerian players is exceptionally high,” he stated.
He further noted that “many Nigerian players compete at the highest levels in Europe, which provides them with a significant physical and technical advantage.”
Put expressed that Uganda must remain vigilant and focused throughout the match.
“They participate in elite competitions across Europe. We are aware of their strength, so we need to maintain our concentration. We have to stay alert and prepare to battle in every situation,” he said.
“This is crucial as it represents one of Nigeria’s key strengths,” he added.
Nigeria is currently at the top of Group C with six points. Although they have already qualified for the knockout stage, they must win their remaining matches to secure the top position in the group.
Uganda, on the other hand, is at the bottom of the group with just one point and must win their next match to have any chance of progressing to the next round.
