Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze has called out his teammate Calvin Bassey ahead of Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match against Tanzania on Tuesday evening.

Chukwueze spoke while reflecting on Bassey’s decision-making in the final third during Fulham’s Premier League 3-2 victory against Burnley, which was his last game before joining the AFCON squad.

It’s worth noting that Bassey chose not to make a square pass to Chukwueze, instead shooting wildly towards the goal.

Speaking on the Alexander Yaa Digg YouTube channel, Chukwueze remarked: “We are both at Fulham. We haven't even arrived at AFCON, and the ball situation is already here.

“You have Maradona and Messi in the same position, and you send the ball soaring to Morocco like an amateur player. Even an amateur wouldn't miss the target like that.

“I should have had a goal and an assist, but I only got an assist because of him [Bassey]. A simple pass is what we are taught in the academy.

“I am your brother, not your enemy. This guy is driving me crazy. Whenever I play with him, he doesn’t pass me the ball.”
