Adamawa raises annual IGR to N17b

Published on May 25, 2025 at 06:17 AM

Adamawa State Government has increased its Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, from N7b annually in 2019 to N17b.

The Special Adviser to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri on Revenue Services, Chiwaren Abubakar, disclosed this while featuring on the live Hausa radio program, ‘Jihar Mu a Yau’, aired on Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, ABC, Yola.

On the program sponsored by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Alhaji Muhammad Tukur, Abubakar stressed that upon Ahmadu Fintiri becoming governor in 2019, the state was securing N7 billion as annual IGR.

He added that with the government’s commitment to development, blocking revenue leakages and providing infrastructural development, the IGR has risen to N17 billion in 2023, with higher rate expected as the 2024 report is awaited.

Abubakar, an economist, who is also the chief executive officer of Chiwaren Foundation, said increased revenue and prudent management of resources had enabled provision of road and other infrastructure as well as citizen welfare packages by the Fintiri government.

Shortly after the radio program, Abubakar was taken round to both the ABC Yola transmission station and the broadcasting house by the General manager of the corporation, Alhaji Abdulnasir Ali.

Ali told his guest that the supply of new equipment, done recently by the state government, had enabled digitalization of the radio station to cover the entire state.
