Published on May 28, 2025 at 04:28 PM

The Adamawa State Government has approved a minimum wage of N70,000 for local government workers across the state, demonstrating a serious effort to increase the welfare of workers.

News of the announcement came from the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, who disclosed it during a short digital press briefing that followed a State Executive Council (SEC) meeting, held on Wednesday in Yola, and presided over by the State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

The State Executive Council also reviewed the 2024 budget, which the State expressed satisfaction with having attained 80% performance, to contrast against notably 56% in 2023.

The invited Commissioner for Finance and Budget, Mrs. Augustina Wandamiya, and her colleague from Bureau of Budget, Mr. Emanuel Pridimso, explained that the focus was mainly on redeployment of surpluses and closing balances of MDAs to ensure the effective closure of the financial year.

According to Pridimso, the state had been able to continue to make impactful developmental progress and induce transparency in governance through efficient management of finances and discipline in budget markets.
