Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has queried the relevance of theJoint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, in gaining admission into institutions of higher learning.

She wondered why the Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, isn’t enough to gain admission into institutions of higher learning.

The movie star stated that she doesn’t understand the need for JAMB and post-UTME when the SSCE proves that candidates have completed secondary school.

On his Instastory, she wrote , “Why is it necessary to take the JAMB exam to gain admission into universities? Isn’t the SSCE sufficient?

“I don’t understand the need for JAMB + post-JAMB when the SSCE already shows we’ve completed secondary school.”;;

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, recently sparked outrage following the mass failure of candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, UTME.

Following the outrage, JAMB admitted that there were errors in the results of some candidates who took the examinations, and apologised to the affected candidates.

JAMB Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede said the board has decided that all candidates affected in 157 out of 882 centres will be contacted to retake their examinations startingFriday, 16 May.

A total of 379,997 candidates across the 157 centres in Lagos and the South-east would retake their examinations.
