The Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has suspended Nollywood actress Shirley Igwe following allegations that she assaulted a crew member on a film set.

Reports indicate that Igwe allegedly slapped a member of the Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria, CDGN, during a production, prompting swift disciplinary action from the AGN.

In a statement issued to its state chapter chairmen and the national chairman, the Guild announced that Igwe had been placed on indefinite suspension pending further investigation.

The AGN stated that the suspension was due to “violence, and indiscipline actions capable of discrediting the acting profession.”

The statement further directed: “Members are hereby directed to refrain from participating in any film production involving her.”
