Abia State Governor Alex Otti has announced that his administration is making plans to commence the payment of monthly stipends to members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, posted to Abia State government-owned institutions.

He made this known on Friday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Umunna, Bende Local Government Area, while declaring open the 2025 Batch “B” Stream 1 Orientation Course.

Otti, who praised the critical role of the NYSC in national integration and development, said that his administration is committed to strengthening and enhancing its capacity to nurture patriotic values in young graduates.

The governor’s address was presented by Mrs Nnanna Nkele Onu, a representative of the Abia State Commissioner for Youths and Youth Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba.Img-20250801-wa0039-1024x682

According to the governor, “We are making plans to start paying a state monthly stipend and it will be something relative to the current economic realities, most especially to those of you who may be posted to state owned institutions.”

He charged members of the NYSC to foster bridges of love, harmony, and productive integration across the state and to contribute to its development.

He further advised NYSC members to manage their finances wisely by prioritising savings and to explore opportunities for business funding which the NYSC provides for them during the service year.

The Abia governor equally advised NYSC members to take the security tips they were taught seriously and to be dedicated and disciplined in their conduct.
