Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has reacted to the threat by three former governors, Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu, to drag him to court for running state functions from his private residence in Isiala Ngwa South LGA.
The governor, who was responding to questions about the threat, said that his lawyers are ready for any eventual suit on the matter.
The Abia Governor explained that his continued operation from his personal residence in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, instead of Umuahia, the state capital, was due to the poor condition of the Government House facility in Umuahia.
Otti informed his predecessors that he has not committed any constitutional offense by operating from his home, adding that reconstruction of the Umuahia Government House is ongoing.
“Somebody said he will sue me for not operating from his house in Umuahia. Well, I am waiting for the suit. My lawyers are prepared.
“I have looked at the constitution, and I didn’t see where there is a provision that I must operate from a particular place,” Otti said.
Otti stressed that Abia people are more interested in the development of their state, and not where the Governor is operating from.
He expressed surprise that one of the former governors launched a verbal attack on his administration from far-away Ebonyi State, warranting the response he received from Abia State government media personalities.
