Abia Govt recovers disputed Aba Mega Mall complex, pays off investors

Published on May 07, 2025 at 01:28 PM

Abia State government says it has recovered the Aba Mega Mall complex located at Osisioma LGA and paid off persons and financial institutions with vested interests in the establishment.

This is about two weeks after the state government reclaimed Enyimba Automated Shoe Company, ENASCO, and revoked the company’s land titles because of alleged irregularities.

Speaking about the reclaiming of Aba Mega Mall, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti said his administration has re-taken full ownership of the facility which he said was abandoned for many years.

The governor who was a guest at the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries’ crusade at held inside the mall, said the property was in dispute and wasting away until the intervention of the government.

“I want to say that the place where you are, Aba Mega Mall complex, before now, there was a dispute. But just about three weeks ago, we resolved the dispute, paid off everybody that was being owed, and the place has reverted to the state government,”; Otti stated.

Speaking further, Otti said that no force was applied in the takeover of the mall, but regretted that despite the huge investments made by the former investors who engaged with previous administrations, the vast facility was abandoned to rot away.

“We didn’t want to use force. We called all of them. How much are you being owed? We paid all, even paid their bankers,”; he explained.

Otti promised that the facility would be revitalized and put to proper use for the benefit of Abia people.
