Abia Govt honours NYSC members for tackling unemployment, preventing viral diseases

Abia State government has honoured two former members of the National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, who served in the State for tackling unemployment and for launching war against viral diseases In the local communities they served.
The former Corps, members who are Owums Francis Chimaobim, an information Technologist and Dr Ngene Joseph Ekene, a Medical Doctor, were honoured by Governor Alex Otti.
While Chimaobim was honoured by the Abia Governor for training widows in business opportunities and funding entrepreneurship for youths in Umuawa Alaocha community,Dr. Ekene was rewarded by the Governor for organizing HIV, Syphilis, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B & C screenings and for his efforts in safe delivery of pregnant woman in Uzuakoli.
The State government noted that job creation efforts of Chimaobim for youths helped in discouraging them from engaging in crime and lifted them from poverty.

Presenting the certificates of recognition from Governor Alex Otti, Abia State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Gladys Adama praised them for sacrificing their earnings and times to fighting unemployment and preventing viral diseases in the localities they served.
Mrs Adama, who presented certificates and cash gift from Governor Alex Otti, charged all NYSC members serving in Abia to contribute in the transformation of the communities they are posted to.

Responding to the reward, Chimaobim challenged Nigerian youths to overcome poverty and economic hardship by acquiring skills.

He further advised the youths to shun crime, embrace life changing job opportunities to become wealth creators, emphasizing that the business of job creation cannot be left for the government alone.
