The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has declared that his administration will accelerate the construction of the Abeokuta Division of the Court of Appeal, which has recently been sanctioned by the President of the Court for the state.

Governor Abiodun made this announcement during the State Treasury Board meeting focused on the 2025–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the 2026 Budget, which took place at the Oba’s Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Thursday.

He indicated that the state has allocated land for the construction of the Court of Appeal adjacent to the Judiciary Complex along Kobape Road, Abeokuta, and that his administration will not delay the commencement of work while awaiting the Federal Government, given the court's critical role in ensuring justice in the state.

Abiodun emphasized that his administration would fund the construction of the complex, with the expectation of reimbursement from the Federal Government for undertaking the project.

The governor stated that establishing a Court of Appeal in the state would be a significant milestone requiring comprehensive support, expressing his determination to have the court operational in Abeokuta before the conclusion of his tenure.

He praised the President of the Court of Appeal for approving the creation of the Abeokuta Division, highlighting that it would not only alleviate the workload of the Ibadan Division but also enhance the prompt administration of justice in the state.
