6 EPL teams to play in Champions League as Man Utd, Tottenham qualify for Europa final

Published on May 09, 2025 at 05:46 AM

The Premier League’s six spots in next season’s Champions League have now been confirmed.

This follows the qualification of Manchester United and Tottenham for the Europa League final on Thursday night.

United beat Athletic Bilbao 4-1 in the semi-final second leg and 7-1 on aggregate, while Spurs saw off Bodo/Glimt 2-0 in Norway and 5-1 on aggregate.

Before these games, England was also guaranteed five spots in the competition, thanks to the performances of Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa this campaign.

United or Spurs will earn a spot in the Champions League if they go on to win the Europa League.

The two teams are currently 15th and 16th in the league respectively and cannot finish in the top half of the table.

It is not only a first for the Premier League to have so many teams qualify, it is also the first time that any European country has ever had more than five clubs in the Champions League at one time.
