The three-day warning strike by the academic and non-academic staff of the Kaduna State College of Nursing Sciences, on Monday, crippled the activities across the three campuses of the institution in Kaduna, Kafanchan, and Pambegua.
The warning strike followed the alleged deliberate refusal by management to promote eligible staff for three consecutive years of 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Activities were completely grounded as gathered by DAILY POST as academic and non-academic staff withdrew their services, leaving students stranded.

Dr Daniel Danboyi, the union chairman, in a statement said, “the workers accuse the college management of frustrating career progression and neglecting staff welfare despite repeated appeals.”

The statement explained that the workers have resolved to down tools for three days, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, as a warning strike to press home their demand for the promotion of qualified staff whose cases have been pending for three years.

According to the statement, “if the management failed to address the matter within the warning period, they would be left with no choice but to embark on an indefinite strike.”

They said that the situation, if not urgently resolved, could degenerate into a prolonged industrial dispute and appealed to Governor Uba Sani to intervene in the crisis to restore normalcy in the affected institutions.

The provost of the college could not be reached to comment on the situation through calls and text messages to his mobile line.
