The lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has firmly dismissed speculations linking him to the Kano governorship or senatorial race ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement personally signed and made available to journalists on Sunday, Jibrin Kofa stated unequivocally that he has no interest in contesting either the Kano South Senatorial seat or the state’s governorship position.

“I am compelled for the umpteenth time to state clearly for clarification sake that I am neither interested in contesting for the Kano South Senatorial seat, nor in the Kano governorship position in 2027,”;; he said.

While acknowledging that his name often comes up in such political discussions, the four-term federal lawmaker said he takes it as a compliment and an acknowledgment of his contributions to politics and public service.

“It is not surprising that my name always comes up in discussions like these, and over the years, I have learned to take it as a compliment, and a reflection that I have made my modest contribution politically and will continue to do so in service to my constituents and country,”;; he added.

Kofa, who currently chairs the House Committee on Housing and Habitat, highlighted his experience and achievements, having previously led key committees in the National Assembly, including Finance, Appropriations, Transportation, and Foreign Affairs.

He noted that his commitment remains with delivering results in whatever responsibility he is given.

“Those who know me well know that wherever I find myself politically or even in my private business before running for political office and the academia or otherwise and whatever assignment I am entrusted with, I am unwavering in my commitment to deliver results. And that has always been my principle,”;; he said.

The lawmaker, who also serves as Executive Director at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), said he remains “modestly ambitious”;; and content with the blessings in his political and professional journey.

“I look forward to the future with optimism,”;; he concluded.

Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, PhD, holds the traditional title of Jarman Bebeji and is widely regarded as a key figure in Kano politics. His clarification comes amid growing speculation about the 2027 political race in the state.
