Former Convener of the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, Ene Obi, has listed factors that could guarantee free, fair and credible elections come 2027.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, Obi said it is integrity and not amendments that would determine the credibility of the 2027 elections.
DAILY POST had reported that the Senate approved the electronic transmission of election results,
President Bola Tinubu, in the same vein, (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2026 into law barely 24 hours after it was passed by the National Assembly.
Speaking on the development, Obi said, “Integrity, not amendments, will determine the credibility of 2027 elections.
“Pushing substantial electoral reforms on the eve of an election year is difficult without unity among opposition parties and civil society.
“The opposition must act as a watchdog and react when government decisions undermine public confidence.”
