Benin Republic's head coach, Gernot Rohr, has expressed his views on the suspension of key players Yohan Roche and Sessi D’Almeida for the upcoming match against Nigeria.
Roche and D’Almeida received yellow cards during the Cheetahs' 1-0 victory over Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Friday night.
D’Almeida was cautioned for a reckless challenge just six minutes before the end of the match.
Roche was booked for time-wasting late in stoppage time.
“We have lost two players (for the match against Nigeria) due to a second yellow card. However, anything is possible for the three teams (South Africa, Benin, and Nigeria),” Rohr stated.
Nigeria will also be without Ademola Lookman for the game due to his own suspension.
The qualifying match for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo next week on Tuesday.
