Former Super Eagles forward, Victor Ikpeba, has expressed his thoughts on Ademola Lookman's performance with the national team, particularly during Nigeria’s recent 4-1 victory over Gabon.

Current African Footballer of the Year, Lookman, had a lackluster performance in Nigeria’s convincing 4-1 win over Gabon on Thursday.

Both Chukwueze and Lookman started the match against the Panthers in a 4-4-2 formation but were substituted around the hour mark after failing to make a significant impact.

Chukwueze was replaced by Chidera Ejuke, while Moses Simon came on for Lookman.

Ikpeba pointed out that Lookman is still regaining his form after missing the beginning of the season due to transfer complications.

“I would like to see more from Lookman; we haven’t seen the Lookman we know,” Ikpeba stated on SuperSport.

“We can understand that he’s lacking match fitness and his form is not yet there.

“We need to see more from both Chukwueze and Lookman.”

The Super Eagles had to wait until extra time to secure their victory against the Panthers.

Two goals from Victor Osimhen and an earlier strike by Chidera Ejuke led to a heavy defeat for Gabon in Rabat on Thursday, following a full-time score of 1-1.

Mario Lemina scored Gabon’s only goal, equalizing Adams Akor’s opener for Nigeria.

Nigeria is now set to face DR Congo in the final of the World Cup qualifying playoff on Sunday.
