Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has cautioned intending pilgrims from the state against engaging in any form of misconduct during their stay in the Holy Land, urging them to serve as good ambassadors of Kano State and Nigeria.
The governor gave the warning while addressing the first batch of 560 intending pilgrims scheduled for airlift to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, Yusuf urged the pilgrims to fear God and maintain exemplary conduct throughout the pilgrimage.
He expressed confidence that the pilgrims would uphold good behaviour, noting that the state government had made adequate arrangements for their welfare.
Governor Yusuf also disclosed that the government had deployed medical personnel and provided healthcare support to attend to any pilgrim who may fall ill during the exercise.
He added that all necessary logistics had been put in place both in Kano and in the Holy Land to ensure a smooth and hitch-free Hajj operation.
The governor further revealed that the Emir of Gaya, Dr Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, has been appointed as the state Amirul Hajj, while the Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Muhammad Maharaz, will serve as his deputy.
