The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, stated that the 2026 budget of ₦901 billion reflects the needs and aspirations of citizens, as expressed during the citizen engagement program.

This announcement was made following the signing of the 2026 budget into law on Wednesday at the council chamber of the Government House in Dutse.

According to DAILY POST, the state House of Assembly approved the 2026 Appropriation Bill amounting to ₦901.8 billion, along with Local Government Budgets totaling ₦288 billion.

The budget, titled “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa II,” was presented to the Assembly on November 25, 2025. It places a strong emphasis on capital projects (77%), education (over 26%), and agriculture, with the goal of enhancing development in the state.

After signing the budget into law, Governor Namadi remarked that the budget is pragmatic as it encompasses the needs of the citizens.

He stated, “The input for the budget was gathered during our citizen engagement program across the 27 local government councils.”

The Governor praised the state House of Assembly for their prompt review of the bill within the designated timeframe.
