2025 U-20 AFCON: Nigeria progresses to semi-final after beating Senegal

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles on Monday progressed to the semi-final stage of the ongoing 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, taking place in Egypt.

This follows their victory against Senegal in the quarter-final fixture.

Both teams failed to score a goal after 120 minutes as the match ended in a 0-0 draw at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia.

However, it was Nigeria who advanced to the last-4 after beating Senegal via penalty-shootout.

As a result, they have now secured qualification for the U-20 FIFA World Cup.

The semi-final stage which will take place on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Nigeria had won the competition seven times in the past.
