A “critical” weather warning was issued to people in Dallas alerting residents about the flash flood – recommending no travel unless fleeing the floods.

And it comes in the middle of the World Cup, where Dallas, after staging Netherlands v Japan and v Croatia, is still to host seven more games.

The next one is Monday June 22 as ‘s face at Dallas Stadium in Arlington.

So the reigning world champions ought to hope that the weather has calmed down a bit by Monday, as they seek to build on their 3-0 opening win over Algeria.

Messi stormed to the top of the goal scoring leaderboard as he bagged a hat-trick in Argentina’s first game defending their 2022 crown.

Monday’s date with Austria looks to be more of a test for the South Americans and is very likely to be their toughest assignment in the groups.

Former Manchester United manager ‘s team scored three of their own against Jordan in their first game, as two late goals gave them a 3-1 win.

And it will be even more of a challenge for both teams if the pitch is underwater.

But Dallas Stadium has a roof, so the pitch at least will survive the storms in Texas.

But, if the rain continues to fall, whether anyone is able to get to the stadium is another question.
