A political activist, Aisha Yesufu, has explained why the government may believe that Nigerians are not experiencing hardship amidst the difficulties in the country.

In a post on her verified X account on Saturday, Yesufu mentioned that those who are suffering are often the ones actively defending the current administration.

DAILY POST reports that Nigerians have expressed increased hardship since President Bola Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023.

It is worth noting that during his inaugural speech, the president announced the removal of the fuel subsidy, which consequently impacted every sector of the economy.

“Why would the government claim that Nigerians are lying when they say there is suffering in the country?”

“The very individuals who are suffering are the same ones at the forefront of defending the government,” she stated.

Citing a human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, the co-founder of BringBackOurGirls remarked that it is perplexing that a person who cannot afford N1 million for their rent is defending a regime that has devastated the nation's economy and impoverished its citizens.
