President Bola Tinubu has promised Nigerians that the current recalibration of the nation’s security framework will soon produce results that can restore public confidence.

The President made this promise on Friday during a meeting with a delegation from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his residence in Lagos.

This information was shared in a statement released by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.

Tinubu emphasized that his administration is dedicated to reforms in the security sector, which include the establishment of state and community policing to tackle emerging threats throughout the country.

“The atmosphere in the nation is calm, although we face significant challenges in our ungoverned areas. The issue is real, but we will overcome it,” the President stated.

He urged religious leaders to support governmental efforts through cooperation, vigilance, and prayers, highlighting that some security measures require time to develop.

“We are deeply religious and known for our prayer efforts. We need your focus, vigilance, and collaboration,” he added.

The President stated that state and community policing will become a reality once the National Assembly completes the necessary legislative processes.

Tinubu noted that delays in acquiring military equipment are influencing public perception, mentioning that such equipment is costly and not readily available.

He revealed that Nigeria has ordered four attack helicopters from the United States and is also seeking additional support from Turkey.

The President affirmed the government's determination to address the guerrilla tactics employed by bandits and insurgents, reiterating that restoring peace is a primary focus.

Regarding the recent abduction and release of schoolchildren in Niger and Kebbi states, Tinubu called for increased vigilance.
