UCL: Rio Ferdinand pinpoints one reason PSG will beat Arsenal again in second leg

Published on May 02, 2025 at 06:24 AM

Former Manchester United man, Rio Ferdinand has predicted the upcoming UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg clash between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

The match will take place on Wednesday, May 7 at the Parc des Princes, Paris, France, to determine who plays this season’s final in Munich.

PSG would go into the game shoulders held high having beaten the Gunners 1-0 away at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg.

Ferdinand predicted that the Ligue 1 side will defeat the Gunners and make it to their first UCL final since 2020.

Ousmane Dembele’s fourth-minute strike secured a crucial 1-0 victory in the first leg on Tuesday.

The reverse fixture will be played next Wednesday at PSG’s home ground, Parc des Princes.

Speaking on his eponymous YouTube channel, Ferdinand named PSG as the favorites to reach the final.

Giving the reason for his prediction, the former England international said the Arsenal lack a natural striker and this would allow PSG to commit bodies forward in the return leg and go man-to-man with them.

He said, “My biggest concern with Arsenal is that without a centre-forward, this Paris Saint-Germain team can go man-to-man, one-v-one at the back, especially when they’re on the attack and be comfortable, fairly comfortable, which means they have numbers further up the pitch to outnumber this Arsenal team and really suffocate them and keep them back.”;
