The warning came during the president’s first ever Board of Peace meeting in Washington.
Asked about breakdowns in nuclear talks, Trump gave an ominous ultimatum: “We may have to take it a step further, or we may not. Maybe we’re going to make a deal.”
“You’re going to be finding out over the next probably 10 days.”
Trump has repeatedly threatened to strike Iran if they do not come to a deal with the US to shut down nuclear development.
Today, the White House briefed that .
It came after Trump slammed the PM Sir Keir Starmer’s Chagos Islands deal mere hours after his own state department backed the deal.
He called the 100-year lease “tenuous, at best” and claimed that the US could need Diego Garcia to hit back at Iran if a nuclear deal is not agreed.
Trump said that the lease meant the strategic land could be snatched from UK control, which he said would be “a blight on our Great Ally”.
The US president has gone back and forth on Starmer’s Chagos deal in recent months.
But last night’s blast from Trump was because the UK has not agreed to let him strike Iran from British bases, The Times reported .
The US is thought to be planning strikes on Iran from both Diego Garcia and RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire – but it can only launch attacks from these bases with the British government’s permission.
The Times reported that the UK has not yet given permission because of concerns about breaching international law.
