It comes as research reveals six in 10 young people are finding it harder to spot .
From today, new members will have to complete a Face Check step by taking a short video selfie within the app.

If the scanned face is a positive match a Photo Verified badge will appear on their profile to signal to others that they have been authenticated.
“It helps tackle one of the hardest problems online, knowing whether someone is real, in a way that feels seamless and effective for real users, while adding meaningful obstacles that are difficult for bad actors to circumvent,” explained Yoel Roth, SVP Trust & Safety for Tinder’s owner Match Group.
“It sets a new benchmark for trust and safety across the dating industry.”
The UK joins the US, Canada, , India, and countries across Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East which already have Face Check.
Separate research by earlier this year shows victims of romance scams across all dating apps and online platforms lost around £7,000 each on average in 2025.
One in five UK adults (18 per cent) have been targeted by a romance scam, or know someone who has.
Match Group – which also owns and OkCupid – plans to introduce Face Check across additional apps in its portfolio in 2026.
