JOE Thomas has given fans a fresh update on a possible TV reboot of The Inbetweeners – after it was revealed the hit show could be making a comeback 16 years after its final episode.
The actor, who played awkward teen Simon Cooper, addressed the fourth series as excitement builds around a potential return of the cult comedy.

The original series became one of E4’s biggest hits, pulling in a record-breaking 2.6 million for a third-series instalment – the highest ever for the digital channel at the time.
The smash success also spawned two hit films that further cemented the comedy’s place in British pop culture.
Joe has said he’s thrilled that a fourth series of is in the works – though he admits he’s still in the dark about the details.
While being interviewed at The Comedy Rooms, he said: “What has happened is that the people who write The Inbetweeners a while ago sold the rights to a larger entity, and they recently bought them back so they can make some more.
“I’m really excited. I don’t know what they’re doing. I just know they’re writing something, and I would really love to do it.
“That’s pretty much it. I hope there’s more because I’ve not got that much else to do! I do like The Inbetweeners as well!”
The star revealed how he faces fans of the show shouting well-known phrases, including references to Simon’s ex girlfriend Carly.
“Well yeah. People shout ‘Carly’ and things like that. One time I was playing football with Simon Bird who plays Will, and someone just shouted out ‘Your Mum’s a c**t!’ That’s not a line from the show, that’s just rude. Neither of our Mums are c***s!”

In a chat with co-star James Buckley on their Joe And James Fact Up, The Inbetweeners stars gave an insight into filming the show.
He said to James: “There was loads of pressure. I felt tons of pressure. I also just had crippling OCD and I kept thinking I’d f***** up the continuity.
“It was just generally astonishing OCD… I had it when I left university and when I was on the Inbetweeners it was really, really bad to the extent where they paid for a therapist to come on set and she thought it was a joke.
“Also it wasn’t discussed that much at the time, so it was just like ‘I’m completely insane” and I need to deal with this privately in these little nine second breaks that I was asking for and somehow pull my head together.’”
