A FRESH reward has been issued amid the hunt for a killer after a taxi driver was found dead in a burnt out cab.

Jesbir Singh Khela, 47, was in the driver’s seat of his Skoda Octavia on Thursday, February 6, last year.

Known to many as Jessy, the was found just before 7.30am in a field off the B659 Langford Road, near , Bedfordshire.

A year on from the tragedy a fresh appeal is being issued with Jessy’s killer yet to be identified.

Jessy’s tragic death was initially treated as unexplained but it was later determined the cabbie had been killed.

Following a forensic postmortem and full examination of the vehicle remains, as well as statements from the people who knew Jessy, cops opened a .

Since the killing seven arrests have been made in connection with the incident, but no-one has been charged.

Independent charity Crimestoppers is now offering a £20,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Cops are also renewing their appeal, asking anyone with information that may assist the investigation to come forward.

Providing details on the case, the force said it was determined that the taxi left central London shortly after 1am on the morning of February 6.

The car was travelling towards Letchworth via the A41.

At the time, police say the vehicle may not have been displaying the taxi sign on its roof.

In August last year the force shared CCTV image s as part of a renewed appeal for information that could assist their investigation.

The footage showed Jessy and his taxi the afternoon before the body of the cabbie, originally from , was discovered.

It was filmed at the Esso Petrol Station in , at 1.22pm on Wednesday, February 5.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Inwood, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “A year on from the tragic death of Jessy, his family and friends still have many unanswered questions.

“We know that someone out there will have information that could help us find out what happened in the lead up to his death.

“Please do come forward and tell us what you know.

“If you don’t want to speak to the police, you can speak to independent charity Crimestoppers, which is separate to the police.

“They will not share any of your details with us, and they are offering a reward of £20,000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.”
