Steve Clarke’s squad ignited massive celebrations throughout the country, with fans celebrating in Scottish pubs, streets, and landmarks.
The Scottish Football Supporters Association (SFSA) shared these videos on their social media platforms, but they were eventually removed due to copyright infringement.
Uefa claimed that the videos were “incorrectly flagged by content protection agencies.”
The SFSA’s account was blocked, and they received emails from the European football governing body indicating that they had shared footage on Twitter without authorization.
The association’s co-founder Paul Goodwin questioned Uefa’s fairness in this matter.
Goodwin stated: “It is difficult to believe that Uefa is so disconnected that they demanded the removal of images showing joyful fans in bars in Glasgow, Stirling, and Dundee, where some of our members were celebrating a glorious evening for the nation.
“It really reflects a lack of understanding by those making these decisions.
“Yes, the game was playing in the background, but these clips depicted fans watching a match that was legally being broadcast on the BBC and lasted an average of 40 seconds.
“So it’s hardly us streaming a game to a global audience.
“Our message to Uefa could be summed up with a chant often directed at match officials: ‘You don’t know what you are doing.’”
Uefa ultimately reversed the removals and issued a public apology following Scotland ‘s match, which was free-to-air on BBC Scotland and BBC Two.
Football authorities stated that measures are being taken to withdraw the copyright notices so the videos can be restored.
A Uefa spokesperson remarked: “Uefa has a strong and comprehensive content protection program to address the unauthorized distribution of its content.
“In this case, it seems that the relevant content was mistakenly flagged by our content protection agencies.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and appreciate your understanding.
“Congratulations on your qualification for the World Cup, a remarkable achievement that we know means a great deal to Scottish fans everywhere.”
