WHILE Ryanair has been axing flights across Europe for months, there are some destinations where the airline is upping its flight capacity.

And one of those cities is also one of the airline’s top places to travel in 2026 which has a charming Old Town, huge castles and cheap drinks.

The budget airline has named Bratislava in as a top for this year.

said that the destination is “quickly becoming one of Europe’s most exciting destinations, blending rich with modern charm.

“Known for its medieval Old Town and stunning castle views, the city will be more accessible than ever in Summer 2026 thanks to Ryanair’s record schedule of 33 routes, growing capacity by 70 per cent.”

The airline will operate direct flights from , , and .

One-way flights in the are as little as £31 with a journey time of two hours and 10 minutes from .

Once you land, make sure to wander about the Old Town where you’ll find plenty of and bars selling beers for a very reasonable price.

The Old Town of Bratislava is popular with tourists, the historic neighbourhood has narrow lanes, as well as palaces previously owned by nobles.

For a capital city, Bratislava is on the smaller side, so you won’t need an especially long trip to see its top sights.

On , one visitor described the Old Town as an “interesting place to be; the narrow roads, old building, , castles, coffees shops, shops and you can visit almost everything during the day.”

Another said: “The old town in Bratislava is beautiful, just how you would expect illustrations for a fairy tale.”

If more modern attractions is what you’re after, then you’ll want to check out the UFO Tower.

The top of the observation deck is shaped like a flying saucer – and if you head up there, you’ll get panoramic views across the city.

It stands at 95 metres tall and sits over the Danube River.

Entry to the UFO Tower costs €11.50 (£9.99) for adults on Monday to Friday and is €1 extra on the weekends.

Along with a view, there’s also a bar and restaurant upstairs.

Other popular attractions are the Blue Church, otherwise known as the Church of St. Elizabeth, which was built between 1909 and 1913.

You can’t miss Bratislava Castle either, which sits up on a hill 80 metres above the Danube river.

The majestic white building with terracotta roof tiles is not only a historic building, but it also houses events throughout the year like the Summer Shakespeare festival and medieval .

Admission into the castle costs €14 (£12.16).
