During the episode, she reveals how she was tricked by a man who was pretending to be a “silver-haired” male model who tried “wooing” her for 24 hours.

It was only when she put his picture into that she realised it was actually the image of a male model.

In the podcast, Scott asks his mum: “Didn’t you try a couple of but you gave up on the end didn’t you?”

Opening up about her experiences, Gail says: “Oh no I got catfished.

“These guys put pictures of male on in America and he was wooing me for about 24 hours with this picture of this male model – a silver-haired gorgeous looking fella.”

She continues: “He was saying ‘you’re my princess and all that’ and then I Googled his picture and it was a male model.

“Anyway, I was totally catfished.”

Scott then proceeds to question exactly how he was wooing her and what his chat was like.

He was saying, ‘do you love flowers my princess? I’ll shower you with flowers.’ I thought, this is too good to be true.”

When Scott asks whether his mum is going to “get back in the mix now,” she admits she wasn’t thinking about it – joking that between her three son’s networks, she would’ve thought they could’ve found her someone.

“I can’t even get myself a girlfriend,” Scott jokes.

Ryan chimes in: “Do you think I’m going to go around and say, ‘do you want to take my mum out for a drink and back to your house?'”

Is it illegal to catfish someone?

Catfishing itself is not explicitly illegal in many jurisdictions, including the UK.
However, the act of catfishing can involve behaviours that are illegal or can lead to legal consequences.
For instance:

  1. Fraud: If a person uses a fake identity to deceive someone for financial gain, it can be considered fraud, which is illegal.
  2. Harassment: Persistent or threatening behaviour under a fake identity can constitute harassment.
  3. Defamation: Making false statements that harm someone’s reputation can lead to defamation claims.
  4. Identity Theft: Using someone else’s personal information without their permission can be considered identity theft.
  5. Emotional Distress: In some cases, causing severe emotional distress through deceit could lead to civil claims for damages.

The podcast clip, which was posted on “@thethomasfam_ page, was flooded with compliments for Gail.

“What a woman,” praised one person.

A second agreed: “GAIILLLLLL WHAT A WOMAN! Hasn’t aged a damn day since I met her in El Vivero in 1998.”

A third suggested: “I’m sorry – why have you not put her forward for @mymumyourdaduk.”

Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “Àrr your mam is lovely she’ll find her Mr right when she least expects it… She’s lovely and has done a great job with you 3.”

And a further complimented: “She’s beautiful!”
